Research to effectively fight extreme poverty

ABRE Foundation is funding the Navarra Center for International Development (NCID) which is part of the Institute for Culture and Society, the research center for humanities and social sciences of the Universidad de Navarra. It has a multidisciplinary team – including experts in political science, economics, communications -, and it seeks to promote effective solutions for dire poverty situations in developing countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. One of its main strategies is conducting case studies on a country or region where a policy has successfully helped the population exit poverty, and then see if that policy can be reapplied, adapting for local circumstances, to other poor countries. They work with local people and regional agencies, because this allows them to see it from their perspective and to act from the inside, making more effective the proposals.
