SDG 6: CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION

Water

Bolivia

Promotion of rights through universal, equitable, and sustainable access to drinking water in order to increase resilience to COVID-19 in the indigenous community of Picaflor (department of Santa Cruz, Bolivia)

The project will be developed in the indigenous community of Picaflor, San Ignacio de Velasco, where 308 Guarasugwe and Chiquitano indigenous people (120 women and 70 children under 6 years of age) live. The community lacks a drinking water service, and the town is supplied water by a manual pump, where women line up to get water they transport home in jugs. This implies a discrimination against women and causes water pollution, resulting in a very high incidence of water-borne infectious diseases. A drinking water distribution system will be built.
