PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION FOR DISADVANTAGED WOMEN THROUGH THE WAVECREST TRAINING CENTER

The goal of the project was to increase the number of the beneficiaries of Wavecrest College from 260 to 580 women trained annually in different majors. Our local partner, Wavecrest Training Center, has established contacts in the local labor market to facilitate professional incorporation of the future graduates. The project also included training local people, updating the training programs and improving financial self-sufficiency. The expansion of this sector in the country increases the need for well trained professionals, which opens a good opportunity for the incorporation of women into the labor market. The hospitality, health and restaurant/food industry sectors are expanding and offer good perspectives for finding formal employment for young people who have received adequate training. This type of work is better paid than the informal jobs which they typically work in order to survive.
