AIM: the project is aimed at strengthening nutritional recovery treatment services for children and expectant mothers by improving nutrition, and upgrading the level of training of human resources in the healthcare system of the community.
ACTIVITIES: Health training of 100 volunteers in the specialisms of maternal and child care, nutritional care and the prevention of endemic, viral and common diseases. Organisation of 8 medical seminars where 80 people received medical care. Care and follow-up of 25 malnourished expectant mothers. Care and follow-up of 50 cases of child malnutrition.
IMPACT: Upon project completion: 85% of the volunteers trained in health will offer advice and preventive treatment to patients in their communities. 80 people will have attended several medical seminars of whom 85% will have improved their health. 300 portions of food supplements will have been given to malnourished children, following which 60% of the diagnosed and treated children will have increased their height and weight, thus achieving an improvement to the correct nutritional rates for their age. 150 expectant mothers will have received portions of food supplements, thus achieving that 70% of those affected by chronic malnutrition manage to have babies that weigh above the average of the newborn babies of the community.
