The project means to consolidate the fundamental right of access to drinking water. It is carried out in the rural indigenous community in Chiquitana de San Lorencito de la Frontera, in the San Ignacio de Velasco municipality, located in the Santa Cruz department in Bolivia. A water distribution system will make drinking water available in every house of the community, directly benefiting the 375 people (190 of those women) who live there. The beneficiaries will make up the Water Committee; different workshops, focused on hygiene, illness prevention, adequate usage of water and awareness of the right to drinking water will be carried out, as well as medical brigades, organised from the Municipal Hospital. The ultimate goal of these initiatives is to reduce the number of people with infectious diseases, especially women and children.
