PROFESSIONAL TRAINING IN HOTEL AND RESTAURANT ACTIVITIES FOR YOUNG WOMEN OF RURAL AREAS OF KIAMBU

In order to improve the standard of living of 400 women each year from the outlying neighborhoods of Nairobi and the rural regions of the country, the Kibondeni professional school was expanded. The buildings were outfitted with kitchen and laundry facilities as well for computers. The school was prepared to organize teacher training for other Kenyan institutions specializing in the same area. Self-financing was improved through product sales in order to guarantee sustainability. In addition, pedagogical improvements were put in place: training and continuing education for the Kibondeni professors lead by an external expert and bringing the educational programs up to date.
